Celebrate the season and Ticonderoga’s Revolutionary legacy with Ticonderoga 250th: A Revolutionary Celebration, a three-day series of events that combine festive holiday traditions with community pride and historical spirit. As part of the larger Ticonderoga Area North Country Christmas Celebration, this weekend brings together shopping, entertainment, history, and family fun across the community.

Holiday Shopping & Dining Night, Parade of Lights, & Holiday Farmers Market
Kick off the celebration in Downtown Ticonderoga with extended shopping and dining hours, special promotions, and the beloved Parade of Lights. The Holiday Farmers Market offers local goods and seasonal treats, creating a festive atmosphere for families and visitors alike. Full details and schedule of events will be announced. “4th of July in December” – Percy Thompson Bicentennial Park & Downtown Ticonderoga
Experience patriotic holiday cheer with a special “4th of July in December” event featuring a spirited Fifes & Drums Corps performance, cozy campfire gatherings, spectacular fireworks, and business promotions throughout the downtown area. This unique celebration brings Revolutionary energy to the holiday season in a way only Ticonderoga can. (Expanded event as part of the Ticonderoga Area North Country Christmas Celebration.)

Festival of Trees Open House & Reception – Hancock House (LARCH)
Close out the weekend at Hancock House, where the annual Festival of Trees fills the historic halls with holiday magic. Visitors are invited to enjoy beautifully decorated trees, festive displays, and a welcoming community reception. Additional details to be announced. Fort Ticonderoga

Step into the winter of 1775 and witness history come alive at Fort Ticonderoga’s Noble Train Event. This immersive, day-long program recreates the dramatic arrival of Henry Knox and the vital process of proofing and selecting cannon for the Continental Army.

In honor of the 250th Anniversary, the event goes even further, showcasing Ticonderoga’s central role in the Revolutionary War by reenacting the first leg of the Noble Train of Artillery. Visitors will experience how the massive cannon were moved from Fort Ticonderoga to Lake George, where they began their historic journey to Boston—an effort that forever changed the course of the Revolution.

Through engaging demonstrations, historical interpretation, and the powerful setting of Fort Ticonderoga, this program offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with the ingenuity, determination, and resilience that helped shape America’s fight for independence.

Join us at Crown Point State Historic Site for a wreath laying ceremony at Knox Trail Marker #0 and learn about the role this historic site played in the gathering of artillery for Knox’s Noble Train. See the introduction of the ceremonial linstock, which will be passed through each county along the Knox Trail on its way from Crown Point to Dorchester Heights.

9:00 a.m. Waterford, NY

Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery Procession including horses pulling replica cannon on sleds along with reenactors and community members, will step off from the Waterford Senior Center at 9am and arrive shortly thereafter at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Waterford for a short ceremony and wreath laying at Knox Trail Marker #18. It will then proceed to Peebles Island State Park for a brief stop near the remaining earthworks created during the 1777 Saratoga Campaign before continuing on to Van Schaick Mansion.

9:00 AM – Knox Marker Ceremony, Soldiers and Sailors Park, Waterford, NY 

Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery Procession will step off from the Waterford Senior Center and arrive shortly thereafter at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Waterford for a short ceremony and wreath laying at Knox Marker # 18 before continuing on to Peebles Island State Historic Park.

10:00 AM – Peebles Island State Historic Park, Waterford, NY

Procession arrives at Peebles Island State Park with a brief stop near the remaining earthworks created during the 1777 Saratoga Campaign before continuing on to Van Schaick Mansion in Cohoes.

10:30 AM- 12:00 PM  – Van Schaick Mansion, Cohoes, NY

Saratoga 250 will officially handoff the ceremonial linstock to Albany 250 at the Van Schaick Mansion. The mansion will have speakers, refreshments, tours of the house, and a commemorative bench dedication in honor of Henry Knox by the Sons of the American Revolution.

The Historic Van Schaick Mansion

Albany County will receive the Noble Knox Train at the Historic Van Schaick Mansion in Cohoes, New York. Join us for the ceremonial linstock hand off from Saratoga 250 to Albany 250 in honor of the 250th anniversary to commemorate the formidable, fearless, and successful winter of the 1775 journey of Henry Knox and the patriots who delivered the vital cannon artillery from Fort Ticonderoga to the high ground above Boston Harbor that caused the British to leave the city. • Immediately following the handoff ceremony, guests will be invited to interact with the regimental interpreters accompanying the replica sleds and view the draft animals.
• The 2nd Continental Artillery Regiment will have musket and cannon firing demonstrations throughout the day.
• A roaring bonfire will provide warmth in between the outdoor activities.
• Costumed reenactors will also greet guests and invite them to tour the 1st floor of the historic Van Schaick Manion that will be decorated for Christmas.
• Guests will enjoy 18th century refreshments and colonial music while having the opportunity to view the New York State Panel of the America’s Tapestry Project that is being stitched by local members of the Embroiderer’s Guild. The New York State Panel is one of 13 panels representing the original 13 colonies that are being created to celebrate America 250.
• At Noon a Dedication ceremony will be held to recognize The Empire State Society SAR whose organization is gifting a granite bench to the Van Schaick Mansion in honor of the arrival of the Knox Train to Celebrate 250 years of American Freedom.
• The program will close with a cannonade salute by the 2nd Continental Artillery Regiment.
