As part of reviving national recognition of the victory at the 1777 Battles of Saratoga as America’s Turning Point, production of a dedicated travel episode by Emmy-nominated host, producer, and writer, Darley Newman, was commissioned. The dedicated travel episode incorporated the revolutionary sites of Saratoga County and hospitality venues to appeal to heritage and cultural tourists.
“Travels with Darley” is aired by 97 percent of national PBS stations and released on significant streaming services, including Apple and Roku. The 2024 season incorporates Newman’s first “Revolutionary Road Trips,” including Saratoga, and will be revealed in January 2024 at a special event co-produced by Smithsonian Associates in Washington, D.C. The Smithsonian event panel will include Saratoga County’s 250th Commission Chair and County Historian, Lauren Roberts.
Saratoga hoteliers, restauranteurs, retailers, and historic sites participated in the episode production. They will be incorporated to the episode edited by Newman’s production company to be released on most PBS stations in late March or April 2024.
