Saratoga: America’s Turning Point Presents 3rd Annual Women in War Symposium & Bus Tour

BY KELLY SCHOONBECK | NEWS SCHUYLERVILLE —The Saratoga County 250th Commission announced the 3rd Annual Women in War Symposium will be held on May 4 from 8:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Old Saratoga American Legion Post, 6 Clancy St. in Schuylerville. As an enhancement to the Symposium, a bus tour of historic sites will be offered May 5.

Take a Road Trip 25 miles Away and 250 Years Back in Time

PBS TV host Darley Newman spent time in Saratoga Springs and nearby areas in September, 2023, filming an episode of her new series, “Travels with Darley: Revolutionary Road Trips,” ... “One of the reasons we really wanted to have Saratoga in the first season is because of the rich history, the significance to the Revolutionary War era,” Newman said in a video greeting... Monday, April 22. “You can’t not go to Saratoga to tell this story.”

The Victory at Saratoga stopped the advance of the British & saved America's fight for freedom. It was the first ever surrender of a British Army. Saratoga was America's Turning Point. Join us to celebrate & toast Saratoga's lasting legacy annually on the this day of Gen. John Burgoyne's surrender to American General Gates.

America's Turning Point will have a presence at the Saratoga County Revolutionary Run for Veterans, a 5k run which benefits Saratoga County Veterans. The event takes place at Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville.

Fort Hardy Park, nestled along the idyllic Hudson River in Schuylerville, was the "field of grounded arms" where British forces laid down their arms as part of the agreed surrender to end the Battles of Saratoga. With summer approaching, visitors can enjoy charming strolls, leisurely paddles and picnics along the Hudson at this historic gem!
