Join us for a bicentennial commemoration of the Marquis de Lafayette’s 1825 return to Schuylerville, honoring the enduring Franco-American bond and Saratoga’s vital role in shaping global democracy.

Event Details

This free public event begins at 12:30 PM at the Champlain Canal Gateway Visitor Center, launching a ¼-mile community procession along the historic Old Champlain Canal Towpath to the Schuyler House, where the formal program begins at 1:00 PM.

The event is rain-or-shine, with speakers and audience seated under cover.

Please note: No food vendors, shuttles, or public transportation provided. Restrooms and water stations are available onsite.

This commemorative event marks 200 years since General Lafayette’s celebrated return to Schuylerville in 1825, a key stop on his grand tour of the United States. It serves as a tribute to Lafayette’s enduring legacy as a hero of the American Revolution and a symbol of the deep-rooted friendship between France and the United States. Attendees can look forward to a variety of engaging activities, including historical presentations, live performances, and community gatherings that highlight the shared ideals of liberty and alliance that continue to unite both nations.
