Ben Powers of American Veterans Archaeological Recovery (AVAR) discusses the 2021 veteran-led dig at Saratoga National Historical Park that uncovered new insights into the Second Battle of Saratoga.

Powers will discuss AVAR’s 2021 archaeological project at Saratoga National Historical Park, where veterans and researchers studied the site of the Second Battle of Saratoga, fought Oct. 7, 1777. Their discoveries in Barber’s Wheatfield shed new light on the battlefield’s tactics and terrain that led to the surrender of British General John Burgoyne—a defining moment in America’s fight for independence.

Presented by Saratoga County 250th American Revolution Commission.
